Choose in Holmes trial tells jurors they cannot take house directions

SAN JOSE, Calif — After 14 hours of deliberations, jurors in Elizabeth Holmes’ felony trial requested Choose Edward Davila on Tuesday if they may take directions house for overview.

Davila, who has presided over the three-month case, denied their request.

“Jurors might not take the directions house to overview,” Davila instructed the courtroom. “The court docket views that as participating in deliberations. All deliberations should happen solely within the jury deliberation room.”

Holmes’ protection attorneys and the prosecutors on the case agreed. The jury was not current throughout Davila’s response, as they remained within the jury room.

Jurors have been handed the case late Friday afternoon, after listening to from 32 witnesses, largely from the prosecution. Holmes, 37, is charged with 9 counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She was the first witness known as by the protection.

Holmes, who pleaded not responsible, faces as much as 20 years in jail if convicted. The request by the jurors late on Tuesday is a sign that it is probably not an open-and-shut case within the eyes of the 12 people who find themselves deciding Holmes’ destiny.

The jury is off tomorrow and is scheduled to renew deliberations Thursday at 8:30 a.m. PT.

Holmes arrived on the San Jose courtroom on Tuesday together with her attorneys, Lance Wade and Kevin Downey. Her mother and father and companion, Billy Evans, have been additionally in attendance, sitting within the row behind her.
